Vinho verde?
Vinho verde directly translates to green wine, so, are we talking about the hulk’s favorite drink?
Nope! The origin of the Vinho Verde name refers to the natural characteristics of the region, which produce dense green foliage, but which also contribute to the wine's profile with freshness and lightness. It rains a lot in this region so the grapes never fully mature and it is this youthfulness that the wine is named after, in comparison to other more complex and weighty wines.
This is a young wine with low alcohol percentage and can have a slight fizz to it.
Originally, this happened when carbon dioxide, which is a natural byproduct of fermentation, was trapped alongside the freshly fermented wine during bottling. But now, winemakers add it through a boost of carbon dioxide, because they know that wine lovers everywhere have come to associate Vinho Verde with its slight fizziness.
